UNILIT BIO-E (DOMUS LG)
PURE NATURAL HYDRAULIC LIME BINDER “ROMAN LIME” DESCRIPTION
UNILIT
BIO-E is an anorganic binder based on pure natural hydraulic lime, free of all
additives or any other component that could modify the chemical and physical
properties of the lime. APPLICATION
This
pure binder is very well suited to be mixed with well-graded, clean and pure
aggregate. All kinds of mortars can
be produced for masonry, repointing, base and finishing mortars, etc. The
binder UNILIT BIO-E is a product of pure hydraulic natural lime, which perfectly
resists all damp problems and possible infiltration of water that could appear
after application of the mortar. This
kind of mortar cures almost immediately (within 2 to 3 hours), which allows the
use of this product even in cold and wet conditions.
The carbonation will last for a considerable period, depending upon the
humidity, temperature and pressure (a phenomenon already known by common users
of white lime). TECHNICAL PROPERTIES (for a mortar composed with sand of 0 to 4 mm granular size)

The
substrate must be clean and free of all traces of oil and grease.
The day before the application of the mortar : rinse the substrate with
clean water. When the substrate has
been treated with an impregnating product (silicone or similar), it is
recommended to consult the supplier or manufacturer.
BIO-E
has to be mixed with a well-graded, pure and clean aggregate, pro rata of 380 to
450 kg of binder per m³ sand. In other words : in order to get a coarse mortar
you need about 20 to 25% of the binder, and for a fine mortar about 25 to 30% of
the binder. This means an average
of 1 volume part of binder for 3 volume parts of sand. 28
% of clean water has to be added to the dry blend to obtain a working
consistency. After
gaching the mortar, it is advisable to let it rest during 1 hour before applying
it. The
mixing can be done manually or mechanically, for 5 to 8 minutes.
The mortar can be applied manually or mechanically on a dry substrate.
If the substrate is too dry, it has to be dampened first.
The mortars are workable for 2 hours.
Their drying period is 24 to 48 hours.
They have to be protected from frost for 48 to 72 hours after their
application. PACKING
