KEIM CONCRETON

Description

Keim Concreton is a coating mineral paint for exterior walls, developed for the protection of concrete.  The structure of the substrate will be completely preserved.  

 Application

Keim Concreton is applied for the repair and protection of damaged concrete on horizontal and vertical surfaces.  The paint can be used on all types of old and new concrete constructions. 

 When the first coat of Keim Concreton is replaced by KEIM CONTACT PLUS, the system is also durable applicable on already painted substrates.

Preparation of the substrate

Keim Concreton is applied on a clean, dust-free, fat-free and porous and absorbing substrate. 

*     Cleaning of polluted substrates (dust, salts) with high-pressured water, scraping or brushing. 

*     Remove old or damaged synthetic paint coats. 

*     Dust pulverized substrates. 

*     Repair damaged concrete with KEIM concrete repair system.

*     Repair masonry, joints, cracks and loose renders or plasters with natural hydraulic lime e.g.:  Unilit-mortars

Use

Keim Concreton can be applied with a brush, paint roller, airless or spray equipment.  By use of spray equipment, please mention this on your order form. 

Generally, 12 hours waiting time has to be respected between each paint layer (dependent on the drying and weather circumstances).  The maximal drying time is unlimited. 

Unpainted, with stripped old paint, repaired or unrepaired substrates, with normal, or high weather load, like horizontal parts, rain sides and the like:

*          Coat the surface with SILANPRIMER, fresh in fresh, followed by a first coat of KEIM CONCRETON, diluted with ca. 30% KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIV (3-4 litre KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIEF on 10 kilo KEIM CONCRETON).

*          After minimal 12 hours, followed by a second coat of KEIM CONCRETON, undiluted. 

Unpainted, with stripped old paint, repaired or unrepaired substrates, with cracks, small irregularities (not repaired with a stabilising undercoat mortar). 

Normal, or high weather load, like horizontal parts, rain sides and the like:

*          Coat the surface with SILANPRIMER, fresh in fresh, followed by a first coat of KEIM CONTACT, diluted with ca. 10-30% KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIV, dependent on the desired filling and the type of damage. 

With a colour finish of the colour groups II, III en IV, KEIM CONTACT has to be coloured in the trend of the final coat.  A mixture with 10 to 20% KEIM CONCRETON (undiluted) in the colour of the final coat is also possible. 

*          After minimal 12 hours, followed by a second coat of KEIM CONCRETON, undiluted.

Unpainted, with stripped old paint, repaired or unrepaired substrates, with rather big cracks, coarse irregularities and the like:

Normal, or high weather load, like horizontal parts, rain sides etc.:

*          Coat the surface with SILANPRIMER, fresh in fresh, followed by a first coat of KEIM CONCRETON (COARSE GRANULATE), diluted with ca. 10-30% KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIV ca. 10-30% KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIV, dependent on the desired filling and the damage type.

With a colour finish of the colour groups II, III en IV, KEIM CONTACT has to be coloured in the trend of the final coat.  A mixture with 10 to 20% KEIM CONCRETON (undiluted) in the colour of the final coat is also possible. 

*          After minimal 12 hours, followed by a second coat of KEIM CONCRETON, undiluted.

Already painted substrates  (dispersion paint etc.):

*          Coat the surface with a first layer of KEIM CONTACT PLUS, diluted with ca. 10-20% KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIV, dependent on the desired filling and the type of damage.  With a colour finish of the colour groups II, III en IV, KEIM CONTACT has to be coloured in the trend of the final coat. 

*          After minimal 12 hours, followed by a second coat of KEIM CONCRETON, undiluted.

With airless equipment, please mention on your order form!

Nozzle grid, 0,53 ‑ 0,66 mm (0,021-0,026 mesh).

Dilution for the final paint coat, especially in dark colours: KEIM CONCRETONFIXATIV, minimal 5%.

KEIM mineral paint will dry very slowly, it means: it is possible by opening of the tubs that solid paint particles can fall into the tub.  Straining of the paint (£ 20 mesh) before application will avoid disturbances during spraying!!!

Precautions

Avoid applying Keim Concreton in harsh weather conditions like rain, frost or direct sunlight.  In case of rainy conditions, protect the surface that has to be paint.  Keim Concreton cannot be applied when temperatures below 5°C or above 25°C are expected. 

Cover surfaces, which will not be paint.  In case of contact: rinse with water.

Keim Concreton is available in all colours of the Keim colour chart. 

Other colours are possible on demand.

For painting on a smooth surface with an average absorption capacity, the average consumption will be:

Keim Concreton                             0,30-0.35 kg/m² (2 coats, exclusive dilution)

Keim concretonfixativ                    0,05-0.06 l/m² (dilution)

Keim Contact                                0,50 kg/m²

Keim Contact plus                          0,50 kg/m²

Keim Silangrund                             0,25 l/m²

 Storage

12 months in the original and closed tubs, in a dry, cool but frost-free space, at temperatures between +5°C and +35°C.

Remarks

In case of doubt regarding the substrate, consult our technical service department.  The material must be stored dry and frost free above ground.  Our advice and information is given in good faith and depending on the latest developments of our products.
