KEIM GRANITAL

Description

Keim Granital is a ready-mixed mineral silicate paint for exterior decoration, after norm DIN 18363 2.4.1. 

Keim Granital protects mineral substrates against harsh weather conditions. 

Keim Granital is water-repellent, but has nevertheless a very high vapour diffusion capacity (breathing material). 

Application

Keim Granital can be used in houses, hospitals, schools etc...

Keim Granital can be applied on inside and outside walls and ceilings  (living room bath room, kitchens, cellar, garage, …), on all types of mineral substrates like bricks, renders and plasters, limestones, natural stones, cellular bricks etc.

Preparation of the substrate

q       The substrate has to be clean of oil, grease and dust, by cleaning with high-pressured water. 

q       Former synthetic coats of paint have to be removed. 

q       Remove pulverized finishes, or clean them with a specially adapted product, if in good condition.

q       Damaged natural rock can be repaired with a mineral mortar. 

q       Joints, damaged masonry or loose plasters have to be repaired with UNILIT natural hydraulic lime mortars. 

Practical application

Keim Granital can be applied with a brush, paint roller or mechanically with a spray gun.  If sprayed, please mention on your order form.

Generally, 12 hours waiting time have to be considered between before applying the next paint layer (dependent on the substrate and the weather conditions).

Lasur techniques

Granital can be diluted in each desired ratio with Keim Speciaalfixatief.  Depending on the desired effect, the paint is applied in 2 or 3 coats, and in different colours.  The successive layer can be applied “fresco” (fresh in fresh) or after a drying period of 12 hours. 

Precautions

Do not apply Keim Granital in harsh weather conditions (rain, frost or direct sunshine).  If rain is expected, the surface to paint has to be covered. 

Colours

Keim Granital is available in all colours of the Keim colour chart.

Keim Granital can be coloured with Keim colour concentrates.

Consumption

The consumption rates are given for substrates with an average suction power.  Correct consumption rates can only be determined after painting a trial surface.

Storage

Unopened buckets can be stored for 12 months in a cool, but frost free room. 

Cleaning of tools

With water, immediately after applying paint.

Remark

In case of doubt regarding the substrate, consult our technical service department.  The material must be stored dry and frost free above ground.  Our advice and information is given in good faith and depending on the latest developments of our products.
